Rada delivers safe and robust shower environment for students

When refurbishing its communal showering facilities at The University of Buckingham, the estates management team recognised the importance of installing a system that was robust and safe and turned to Rada.

As Matthew Cross, The University of Buckingham, comments: “With over 2,500 students on campus, our washrooms are in constant use. With the installation of Rada’s V10 Shower Contract Pack, Flight shower tray, wall panels and elevate enclosures, we are confident in the safety and reliability of the products specified.”

Rada’s V10 Shower Contract Pack is a surface mounted, chrome plated single sequential thermostatic shower valve. The stylish and contemporary design benefits from a vandal resistant shower head and rigid riser pipe – making it the ideal solution for public areas that experience high levels of activity.

Together with Kohler Mira’s Flight shower tray, wall panels and elevate enclosures, Rada offered the estates team the complete shower system.

Matthew continues: “Working closely with Rada during the design process enabled us to move away from the traditional showers pods we’d previously had and instead install the contemporary trays, wall panels and enclosures from Rada. This offered us the traditional enclosure appeal and privacy which is so important for communal showers while providing a robust system that is easy to clean and maintain.”

The shower system is manufactured from a durable stain resistant acrylic capped-resin stone and features a tri-laminate capped-resin stone casing. This results in the system being durable and scratch and chip resistant while also being resistant to water staining and discolouration – important features for busy communal showers.

Importantly, Rada’s shower system provides the estates team with the confidence that its students can shower in a safe environment – with the Flight tray, wall panels and elevate enclosures featuring the innovative BioCote® technology. The addition of the BioCote® antimicrobial additive in the manufacturing process results in the Rada products benefitting from an antimicrobial coating that significantly reduces bacteria and mould growth by up to 99.9%.

Additionally, Kohler Mira’s Flight Tray is an anti-slip shower tray that makes showering safer and more hygienic. This provides you with the confidence that the products installed are supporting the robust hygiene control measures, and are safe for each and every student.

Rada is driven to design water flow controls and washroom products that promote safety and sustainability and to solve problems in a way that makes a fundamental difference to people’s lives.

It believes people should be safe and secure, using taps and showers designed to prevent injury and waterborne infection while conserving resources. It’s at the heart of everything it does.
